Revival of historic landmark in Chelsea

Lots Road Power Station, the last of London’s three main power stations, will begin its new phase of life seeking a glamorous transformation. Powerhouse being part of the Chelsea Waterfront development, together with Tate Modern and Battersea Power Station, completes a triad of significant elements of London energy infrastructure and industrial architecture that have now entered a new chapter in their lives.

This old coal and later oil-fired and gas-fired power plant, nestled by the water right off the River Thames, was erected in 1905 but has been dormant for decades. Developer CK Asset Holdings Limited acquired the site and plans to convert it into a mixed-use development with private to affordable homes, business and retail units, and public space, all while preserving the structure’s industrial legacy.

The ingenious renovation of this heritage property was led by award-winning architect Sir Terry Farrell. The integrated residential complex currently includes two distinctive glass towers with 37 and 25 storeys, three riverfront apartment buildings adjacent to beautifully manicured gardens, a fashionable selection of retailers, and an outdoor restaurant and bar.

It also provides state-of-the-art facilities, including a 24-hour concierge service, a luxurious spa, and an exclusive health and fitness centre and a 20-metre indoor thermostatic swimming pool and the Riverside Club Lounge with panoramic views of the River Thames.

There are plenty of things to do in and around Chelsea. Chelsea is home to several world-class museums, including the Saatchi Gallery, which showcases contemporary art, and the National Army Museum, which explores the history of the British Army. King’s Road is a major shopping destination in Chelsea, featuring a wide range of high-end shops and boutiques with quick access to Knightsbridge and the West End, as well as retail locations such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

Chelsea is home to several beautiful parks, including Battersea Park and Chelsea Physic Garden, which offer a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are many top restaurants, serving cuisine from around the world. Some popular options include Bluebird Chelsea, Tom’s Kitchen, and The Ivy Chelsea Garden.

Since it is located on the banks of the River Thames, many walk along the river or even take a boat tour to see some of the famous landmarks from the water. Whether you’re interested in history, art, shopping, or food, you’re sure to find something to enjoy in this vibrant area of London.

Powerhouse will soon become a renowned riverside London landmark again after being revitalized by a world-class team of architects and designers. Powerhouse will provide contemporary living experience unlike any other in one of London’s most sought boroughs.
