Tower Hill area guide

Tower Hill: A mix of past and present

From the high, elevated area just outside the city of London, Tower Hill has a blend of ancient and modern architecture that is interesting to look at. Just next to the modern financial district is the Tower of London, depicting an interesting dichotomy in the area. It is a welcoming place to visit whether you are interested in history, contemporary art, or just want to take in the local culture.

Interesting history

The Tower of London is a strong symbol of England's history in the Middle Ages. Its ancient walls have many stories about kings, detainees, and people being kept in prisons. For exploration, there are ancient buildings, valuable jewellery to gaze at, and stories to learn about the people who were caged here.

City life currently

The skyline of Tower Hill has undergone a transformation with new steel and glass skyscrapers, replicating a modern place for people to come and work. The City Quay residential complex accepted the change, providing more than 200 high-end apartments with some breathtaking views of the marina at St. Katharine Docks. Residents find this place quite captivating, as they can live in nice homes amidst London's bustling financial area.

Travel centre

With extensive transport connections, Tower Hill makes it easy to get from one place to the other. The Circle and District lines serve the area and connect easily to London's massive underground system. You can use the nearby Tower Gateway DLR station to reach Canary Wharf, Docklands, or City Wharf for easy transportation. In addition, the Tower Millenium Pier, which is close to the famous Tower Bridge, serves as a central location for riverboat services used by commuters. It provides a mesmerising view and an efficient way to travel along the Thames.

Cultural attractions

Apart from having historical sites and new buildings, Tower Hill has a vibrant culture. You can visit some of the nearby sights, like the Tower Bridge Exhibition to get some picturesque views, or maybe take a stroll along the pretty St. Katharine Docks, which has cafes, shops, and galleries.
